One of our existing clients, Fabulous Fanfare, already provided catering services to Manchester City Football Club and they won the contract to provide catering services for the next 10 years at Watford Football Club. Part of that remit was to look at the existing catering facilities at the club. We worked in partnership with our sister company, CMI Architecture to deliver a bespoke space within very tight timescales.
Our objective was to take a poor hospitality offering, which was not fit for purpose, and apply fresh thinking and a new approach to enable Watford Football Club to create a bespoke restaurant space within the stadium.
The space itself was an odd shape and a difficult area of the stadium to work with. Some of the space hadn’t been used for nine years and access was limited, including routes to and from the stadium seats. Careful and creative space planning was required to create a bespoke dining experience consisting of a fully equipped catering kitchen and two restaurants, one of which was a multi-functional space. Additionally, employee locker rooms, showers, WCs, a beer cellar and ancillary spaces were planned.
The complete interior design including finishes, seating and lighting delivers a unique and quality experience. The design of the different restaurant areas give a completely different feel and affords the multi-functional space the flexibility required.
The biggest challenge with this project was the four-month, out-of season timescale that it had to be completed within – and with no option to move the launch date. This was coupled with the space itself being challenging. It meant that the team had to fully understand and interpret the brief, produce the designs, appoint the contractor, manage the procurement process as quickly as possible and within budget.

Taking an agile and integrated approach with our sister company and our contractor partner meant we were able meet the challenging timescales and high standards required for this project.
Alongside CMI Architects, we stood out during the design process as we fully understood what the client wanted to achieve. We focused on every detail and could make tweaks along the way as well as respond to unforeseen challenges in a swift and agile manner. The end result was that we exceeded our client’s expectations and delivered the project, on time, in full and within budget.
